Tamil Edition of ‘Kanchi Mahaswami’ Book Released

The pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya, on Tuesday released the Tamil translations of two volumes of the book published by The Hindu Group titled, ‘Embodiment of Truth - Kanchi Mahaswami’ (Unmayin Avatharam - Kanchi Mahaswami), at the Kanchi Mutt’s branch in Tirupati. He thanked The Hindu Group for their effort in making the teachings and discourses of the 68th pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Shankaracharya Mahaswamigal, available to the public. He added the two volumes had been earlier brought out in English, and at the request of devotees, the Tamil edition had been published. The Shankaracharya said the book chronicled Mahaswamigal's life, spiritual pilgrimages, public lectures, preachings, and the general acceptance he enjoyed, which were put together from news items and photographs that appeared in The Hindu. It has also his own experiences with Mahaswamigal, the Shankaracharya stated.

Close relationship

In addition, the Shankaracharya emphasized the intimate association of the Kanchi Mutt with The Hindu Group by remembering the visit of Mahaswamigal to The Hindu office. The first and second copies of the books were handed over to Prof. Devanathachariar, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati, and P. Vaidyanathan, Chairman, Integrated Enterprises, respectively. Pre-release ritual ceremonies took place at the Kamakshi Amman temple in Kancheepuram and Mahaswamigal's Adhishtanam at Kanchi Mutt.
