An island nation with a culture centered on diversity: The Philippines, Guest of Honour at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2025, is marked by the nation's significant artists, the indigenous people's customs and worldwide viewpoints - staged against a tribute to the figurehead of Philippine literature, Jose Rizal. His book "Noli Me Tangere" motivated the guest of honor slogan: "The imagination peoples the air".
This establishes a unique bridge to the country's colorful literature and distinctive narration. The archipelago's cultural scenery is defined most of all by several influences, for it comprises 7,641 islands on which 183 languages are spoken by 109 million citizens. This makes the Philippines the world's thirteenth largest country.
The program will target the country's celebrated writers, artists and creatives and rich literary heritage and diverse literary traditions.
