Manorma Hortus: Book Fair is scheduled to commence on 26th October

Hortus Festival by Malayala Manorama celebrates art, culture, and literature in Kozhikode, with book fairs, exhibitions, and cultural events from 26th Oct to 3rd Nov.

The festival Hortus, collected by Malayala Manorama and celebrating art, culture, and literature, is set to encourage a fresh wave of creativity in Kozhikode, the first UNESCO 'City of Literature' in India.

Prepared to take place on Kozhikode Beach from 31st October to 3rd November, the festival will have its official beginning at 4 pm by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The event will include various discussions, with debates commencing on 1st November. 400 nationally and internationally renowned writers and artists will take part in 130 sessions over three days. Pusthakashala, a book fair held alongside Hortus, will be opened on 26th October by writer M Mukundan.

The first book will be presented to writer Lijeesh Kumar, and Joy Alukkas, Managing Director of the Joy Alukkas Group, will preside over the event. It is expected that this event will become one of the largest book festivals in the country.

As part of Hortus, there will also be an exhibition called Aksharaprayanam, which will showcase the evolution of Malayala Manorama from its establishment in 1888 to 2024 through images and text. A children's pavilion featuring a cooking studio offering Korean delicacies, along with activities such as kite-making, kite-flying, and quiz competitions, will also be launched. The Vilambara Sandhya will begin on October 26, during which over 60 new books will be launched. This event will also feature various cultural performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Kochi Biennale Foundation, in collaboration with Meitra Hospital, will also organize an art exhibition. Bose Krishnamachari will lead the exhibition, which Minister P A Muhammed Riyas will inaugurate at noon on October 28. Jayant Mammen Mathew, Executive Editor of Malayala Manorama, will preside over the event, and Nihaj G Mohammed, CEO of Meitra Hospital, will address the event. Artists P S Jalaja and S N Sujith will curate the exhibition.
