The 20th International Book Fair features 78 publishers, kids’ and rare books pavilions, and 215+ events across Alexandria, Cairo, and Helwan venues.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina Hosts 20th International Book Fair

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has opened the 20th installment of its International Book Fair, running between Monday, 7 July and Monday, 21 July. The 20th installment is being organized in collaboration with the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Association and is supported by QNB bebasata.

The Fair was opened by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director General of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Mr. Mohamed Rashad, President of the Arab Publishers Association; Mr. Farid Zahran, President of the Egyptian Publishers Association; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahim Al-Bayoumi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Awqaf; Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies, on behalf of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qonsowa, President of the University; Dr. Yousry El Gamal, former Minister of Education; and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Dayem El Gendy, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy, in addition to the Consuls of Palestine, Lebanon, China, and Italy, as well as a number of intellectuals, thinkers, media personalities, and Al-Azhar leaders.

It is worthy to note that approximately 78 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses are participating in this year's Fair, and that there has been the establishment of a children's pavilion with over 16 publishing houses dedicated to printing and publishing kids' books, along with another pavilion for old and rare books (Sour Al-Azbakeya).

Guest of honor for this year is ex-Moroccan Foreign Minister and celebrated intellectual Mohamed Benaissa. Mr. Benaissa was a former member of the Library's Board of Trustees, having died in March 2025.

A cultural program on the side of the Fair that includes over 215 events, with the attendance of close to 800 lecturers and speakers. The events will be at the Library in Alexandria, Sinnari House in Sayeda Zeinab district, as well as Khadija Palace in Helwan.
