Bhubaneswar-Based Young Author’s Book ‘Sons of Darkness Acquires New Rights in Russia

Eksmo Publishing House, a famous Russian publisher of science fiction and fantasy, has acquired the Russian translation rights to 'Sons of Darkness,' a new epic grim-dark fantasy novel by city-based Indian novelist Gourav Mohanty.

In a six-figure agreement, Eksmo's Alexey Burov bought world rights to the book in Russian from Indian publisher Leadstart (One Point Six Technologies Pvt Limited). The critically praised novel, set in a Vedic-inspired society plagued by wards and political intrigue, was released in June of this year by Leadstart.

In the novel, Mohanty, a lawyer-turned-author from Bhubaneswar, presents a grim-dark re-imagining of the Mahabharata's story of Muchukund. The tale also includes famous characters like Krishna, Satyabhama, Karna, and Shakuni who embark on unusual trips.

“Translations have always been the bridge between tales tethered to their regions of origin and world literature. I am thrilled that readers are going to discover the magic of ancient India in the Russian language following the translation of the book,” Mohanty said.
