The letter highlights a surge in attacks on Hindu communities following the unexpected resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who had ruled for 15 years. Reports detail the destruction of Hindu temples, statues, and businesses, as well as violent assaults on individuals, including the brutal murder of a Hindu professor. Intelligence sources have reported that the military and police have failed to protect Hindus and, in some cases, have been involved in looting and violence.
