Celebrating India's Business Authors: Gaja Capital Business Book Prize Longlist Unveiled

The Gaja Capital Business Book Prize has disclosed its longlist, an annual accolade celebrating non-fiction books centered on business and entrepreneurship. The winning author will receive a generous cash prize of Rs 15 lakh.

Among the ten books making the longlist are:

• "Against All Odds: The IT Story of India" (Rs 799, Penguin) authored by Kris Gopalakrishnan, N Dayasindhu, and Krishnan Narayanan.
• "Capture the Dream: The Many Lives of Cap CP Krishnan Nair" (Rs 799, Juggernaut) written by Bachi Karkaria.
• "Essentially Mira: The Extraordinary Journey Behind Forest Essentials" (Rs 699, HarperCollins) penned by Mira Kulkarni.
• "Forging Mettle: Nrupender Rao and the Pennar Story" (Rs 699, HarperCollins) authored by Pavan C Lall.
• "Forks in the Road: My Days at RBI and Beyond" (Rs 699, Penguin) authored by C Rangarajan.
• "Limitless: The Power of Unlocking Your True Potential" (Rs 399, Hachette) authored by Radhika Gupta.
• "Tata’s Leadership Experiment: The Story of the Tata Administrative Service" (Rs 699, HarperCollins) by Mukund Rajan, Sonu Bhasin, and Bharat Wakhlu.
• "The Freedom Manifesto: 7 Rules to Live the Life of Your Calling" by Karan Bajaj (Rs 399, HarperCollins).
• "The Tech Phoenix: Satyam’s 100-Day Turnaround" (Rs 395, Rupa) authored by TN Manoharan and V Pattabhi Ram.
• "Winning Middle India: The Story of India’s New-Age Entrepreneurs" (Rs 599, Penguin) written by TN Hari and Bala Srinivasa.

The jury panel consists of industry veterans, academic scholars, and governance experts, including Manish Sabharwal (Chair), Imran Jafar, Arindam Bhattacharya, Lakshmi Venu, Sangita Reddy, Michael Queen, Neelkanth Mishra, Prithvi Haldea, Shailesh Haribhakti, and Upendra Kumar Sinha.

The shortlist of finalists will be unveiled in October, with the ultimate winner being announced in November. Gopal Jain, co-founder and managing partner of Gaja Capital, expressed that these books spotlight India's remarkable entrepreneurial achievements, offering inspiration to the next generation of business leaders.

Last year's recipient for the prize was Harish Damodaran, the National Rural Affairs and Agriculture Editor of The Indian Express, for his book "Broke to Breakthrough: The Rise of India’s Largest Private Dairy Company" (Rs 699, Penguin). 

Prior to that, in 2021, Amrit Raj's "Indian Icon: A Cult Called Royal Enfield" (Rs 550, Westland) secured the award, and in 2020, Mihir Dalal's debut work "Big Billion Startup: The Untold Flipkart Story" (Rs 550, Pan Macmillan) was the honoree.
