After a two-year break, the Singapore Book Fair returns

From June 4 to 12, book enthusiasts can attend the Singapore Book Fair at the National Library Building on Victoria Street and the neighbouring Bras Basah Complex. The annual event is organised by SPH Media Trust's Chinese Media Group and returns after a two-year break owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It will feature nine new book launches, presentations by local and international authors, and workshops for adults and children. The event will feature about 15 bookstores and publishers.

On June 5, at 1pm, Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo and Parliamentary Secretary for Communications and Information Rahayu Mahzam will attend the opening ceremony at the plaza of the National Library Building.

From 3pm, there would be a xinyao (locally composed Mandarin songs) mini-concert at the Bras Basah Complex central atrium.

-A panel discussion about stroke recovery based on Terence Ang and Radiance Leong's book A Cry In The Dark: A Stroke Survivor's Story Of Hope And Recovery. Dr Shamala Thilarajah, president of the Singapore National Stroke Association, Dr Moses Koh, associate consultant at Sengkang General Hospital, and Ms Evelyn Koh, founder of Aphasia SG, which helps persons with aphasia and their caregivers, will speak at the event on June 6 from 4.30pm to 6pm. Aphasia frequently develops after a stroke and impairs a person's capacity to speak. The National Library's The Pod (level 16).

-On June 10, 2pm to 3.30pm, the editors, Professor Tommy Koh, Singapore's Ambassador-at-Large, and Mr Daljit Singh, visiting senior fellow at the Iseas-Yusof Ishak Institute, will provide a discussion and book signing of America: A Singapore Perspective. Bhagyashree Garekar, international editor of The Straits Times, will chair the discussion. Location: The Pod at the National Library.

-ST Invest editor Tan Ooi Boon will give a presentation and launch the book Always Have Enough Money on June 11 from 2pm to 3.30pm. Basement 1 of the National Library.
