Uber Shuttles Launch Mobile Library Initiative with Penguin Books in Delhi-NCR

In a groundbreaking initiative, Uber has partnered with Penguin Random House India (PRHI) to introduce a mobile library on wheels. The month-long campaign, #UberReads, will feature a new fleet of electric Uber Shuttle buses across Delhi. These buses will be equipped with a curated selection of popular and bestselling books in both English and Hindi, including genres like fiction, biographies, self-help, and mysteries.

Gaurav Shrinagesh, CEO of PRHI for India, SEA, and MENA, expressed excitement about the campaign, emphasizing that it provides a unique opportunity for readers to enjoy a diverse range of books while commuting. Riders will have access to over 80 titles, including Bonnie Garmus' "Lessons In Chemistry" and Ruskin Bond's "All-Time Favourites for Children."

The initiative allows passengers to select a book to read during their ride and return it for others to enjoy. Nikita Aswal, a daily user of the Uber Shuttle, praised the program for helping her reconnect with reading despite her busy schedule.

Uber has been operating air-conditioned shuttles on over 50 routes in Delhi since mid-May, with approximately 40,000 active users. Amit Deshpande, Head of High Capacity Vehicles at Uber India and South Asia, highlighted that #UberReads aims to promote mindful reading and encourage passengers to opt for shared rides over private vehicles.
