Saudi Arabia launched its pavilion as the guest of honor at the 2024 Seoul International Book Fair, which will take place from June 26 to 30, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
SIBF's 66th edition, held at the Convention and Exhibition Complex south of Seoul, is a celebration of Saudi culture, with the Kingdom's pavilion highlighting many facets of its cultural history.

The pavilion will highlight Saudi culture through an integrated experience led by the Ministry of Culture's Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in collaboration with the Heritage Authority, the Fashion Authority, the Film Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, King Abdulaziz House, the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Fahd National Library, the Publishing Society, and the
Throughout the exhibition, LPT will collaborate with an exclusive collection of writers and authors to deliver a diverse cultural program in the pavilion and the main theater.

The program includes dialogue sessions and seminars on various topics, most notably the Kingdom's history and antiquities, Saudi women writers, and the contribution of the language in transmitting cultural values, traditions, and customs, societal and identity formation, the common features between Korean and Arabic languages and cultures, and the historical and contemporary interactions between the two cultures, including trade, travel, and cultural exchanges, and their effects.

The curriculum will feature seminars on poetry and what it means to Arabs, the Saudi novel, and the Kingdom's role in teaching Arabic to non-natives in Korea. One of the sessions will also examine how to promote collaboration between Korean and Arab singers.

The Saudi pavilion will also host the launch of the "Book of Poems in Korean Language," the outcome of a successful collaboration between the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture and the LPT.

The King Salman International Academy for Arabic Language is launching an Arabic language project in Korea.

There will be live performances of traditional Saudi arts such as the Ardha (a type of group folk dance), as well as a special display of books and relics discovered on Saudi soil to enhance the pavilion experience for Korean tourists.

A Saudi supper night with native delicacies from several places will also be planned.

Saudi Arabia's participation in SIBF aims to strengthen relationship and cooperation with Korea, promote conversation across cultures and civilizations, and broaden areas of collaborative cooperation in literature, culture, and the arts.

SIBF, founded in 1954, is one of the most well-known book fairs in Asia and around the world. In 1995, the Korean Publishing Culture Association expanded the event to an international fair. This year's participants include over 90 publishing institutions and corporations from 19 countries, as well as 350 Korean publishing houses.
