Tevin Studdard, an Indianapolis activist and author, is transforming the lives of local children by helping them become published writers. This summer, Studdard assisted around 100 kids in turning their stories into physical books.

Studdard, who has experienced the transformative power of writing firsthand, aims to guide kids through the process of publishing their stories into physical books.

"It is a very powerful thing to see," Studdard said, reflecting on the impact of the program. He expressed how he wished he had someone guiding him through book writing when he was younger.

The initiative goes beyond mere publication. For many children, especially those from underrepresented communities, this program represents a rare opportunity. "Not a lot of black kids get to write books and do this type of stuff," said 12-year-old participant Gage Hall.

Studdard emphasizes that the program's goal is to offer kids a positive and empowering outlet. "I'd rather see black children's names on books than obituaries," he said. He hopes the skills and lessons learned through this program will inspire resilience and creativity beyond the classroom.
