Tamil Nadu Minister of Education Announces Second Edition of Chennai International Book Fair

Anbil Mahes Poyyamozhi, the state's minister of education, made the announcement here on Wednesday. The second iteration of the Chennai International Book Fair (CIBF) will take place at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam on January 16, 17, and 18, 2024. The event's inaugural iteration took place in Nandanam earlier this year.

He stated, "The Tamil Nadu government would allocate a sum of 3 crores as a Translation fund with particular rules for non-Tamil publishers who can utilize the fund to translate Tamil works into their languages. 

He said that publishers from 24 different countries signed up to 365 memoranda of understanding last year between Tamil publishers and their counterparts in other states and nations. He stated that international involvement would rise much more this year. 

He said that Malaysia would be the CIBF's guest of honor nation in acknowledgment of the country's close ties to Tamil Nadu, the Tamil language, and Tamil literature.
