The 14th Siliguri Mahakuma Book Fair will run from November 30 to December 6, 2024, at Baghajatin Park. The fair will be inaugurated by Minister for Mass Education Extension and Library Services, Siddiquallah Chowdhury, along with renowned author Debarati Mukhopadhyay. Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb revealed that this year's theme is Bhasha Diye Sampriti Garun (Fostering Harmony Through Language).

Around 50 booksellers and publishers, including some from Kolkata, will participate in the fair, offering a diverse range of books. Additionally, the privately organized North Bengal Book Fair will begin on December 6, allowing book lovers to attend both events. The fairs will give local residents a unique opportunity to explore a wide selection of books throughout December.

The state-sponsored event will showcase literature in English, Bengali, and Nepali. With a business turnover of nearly 35 lakh over the past two years, this year's fair is expected to see even higher sales, thanks to its earlier start compared to the private fair. The state government has also allocated funds for rural, town, and district libraries to procure books from the fair.
