Shanghai Book Fair serves as more than a book-selling venue

Books are still popular, as seen at the Shanghai Book Fair where many young people attended to buy physical books and attend book signings. 

The fair featured over 180,000 types of books from over 350 publishers and was crowded day and night.

Book fairs are a valuable platform for both senior citizens and young people. Attendees can learn about authors and editors while also enjoying the social atmosphere. 

Shanghai's Book Fair has become a cultural event in the city, with roots dating back to the 1970s. According to author and city culture researcher Xu Jinjiang, the fair can serve as a "stepping stone" for children to start reading. Xu also hopes to see more international publishing houses participate in the future
