The Ramanathapuram district administration unveiled a mobile library as part of Mugavai Sangamam, the fifth iteration of the yearly book fair. At Raja School Ground, the 10-day book expo began on February 9.
The bus, carrying 1,000 books, is intended to appeal to kids and teenagers. The bus will remain at the location until the conclusion of the fair, and the bus will then pass across the district to encourage youngsters to read.
After the fair, the bus will tour the district, stopping at government schools, village panchayats, EIC centers, nursing homes, and other public locations. Reading sessions will be held there, and everyone will have the chance to find their favorite books, according to book collector Johny Tom Verghese.
There is a reading nook and an activity room inside the bus. The activity area is intended for small groups of students to conduct seminars, storytelling sessions, and other such activities.
The bus has a convertible side that can be opened to turn it into a tiny stage or platform where speakers may address an audience outside the vehicle. There are several seating choices and racks with 1,000 volumes in the reading nook.
Also, there are mats on the floor of the bus so that passengers can find a book and sit down to read or write. Children reading in the five Sangam era settings of Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal, and Paalai are just a few of the vibrant drawings that grace the exterior of the bus and give this moving library its personality.
According to the district administration, anyone may help the cause by giving books. All concerns regarding the book fair and the book donation campaign can be sent to an official hotline number that has been established.
