A complaint has been filed at the Ernakulam Central Police Station concerning the sale of pirated copies of the book Ram C/o Anandhi, published by DC Books. The complaint arose from the discovery of pirated copies being sold at the Guna Cave Exhibition Center on Marine Drive in Ernakulam.

The stall was managed by individuals from Thiruvananthapuram, with authorities confirming that nine out of the ten books displayed were counterfeit. A local resident, Habeeb Rahman from Poonthura, was taken in custody, and police are actively investigating the case. Law enforcement is intensifying efforts against the distribution of pirated books, as this undermines the livelihoods of authors and the publishing sector.

The complaint was lodged by Venugopal G, a 58-year-old from Pampady Village in Kottayam, who reported the sale of these unauthorized copies to the police around 7:50 PM on the same day. He provided a comprehensive statement to ASI Rajagopal on duty at the police station, detailing the breach of the Copyright Act due to the sale of the counterfeit editions.

Following Venugopal’s report, police registered a case under Crime No. 1461/2024, invoking Section 63-A of the Copyright Act. Authorities will proceed with the investigation based on the provided information, forwarding the FIR and statement to the relevant court and authorities.
