Kathmandu, 30 August (PTI) The second edition of the Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) will begin on Friday in Nepal's capital to honor Lord Shiva and Gautama Buddha in the context of Nepal-India literary links.

The literary extravaganza will be held in Kathmandu from September 1 to 3 by the Odisha-based Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) in collaboration with Yashaswi Pragya Pratishthan. The three-day festival will be inaugurated by Nepal's Foreign Minister, NP Saud.

According to Ranjan Rashmi, creator and Director of KLF, the second edition of KLF Kathmandu is intended to develop civilisational, cultural, and spiritual discussion as well as literary perspectives in the South Asian Region.

This year's festival's core subject is "Shakti and Bhakti- the Civilisational Connection: Nepal as a Centre of Global Thought."

 The Kathmandu edition of the KLF will "celebrate the spirit of Lord Shiva and Gautama Buddha in the context of Nepal-India literary ties," according to the festival's official website.

More than 300 authors, poets, and literary figures from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will attend the KLF series - 2.

Among the eminent visitors attending the occasion are noted Indian economist Dr Bibek Debroy, renowned Nepali linguist Madhav Prasad Pokharel, and Chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Academy Nisha Sharma.

Dr. Madhav Prasad Pokhrel, a prominent Nepalese writer and linguist, will receive the Yashaswi Sahitya Sanman, as will Indian writer Prof. Awadhesh Pradhan and actress-writer Divya Dutta.

According to the organizers, the Nepal Yashaswi Award will also commemorate famed Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala.

The event will also include a performance by Abhilipsa Panda, the vocalist of the "Har Har Shambhu" song, and a dance demonstration by Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty, a renowned Odissi dancer.

It will highlight literature, music, dance, poetry, and other art forms while focusing on the great traditions of Nepal and India.
