The Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), drawing more than 6,000 attendees.

This year's events and initiatives from the Council attracted a diverse group of visitors, including cultural enthusiasts, those interested in social and family issues, media professionals, and attendees of all ages, alongside active contributions from various institutions and partners.

The platform offered an educational and interactive space, featuring four departments focused on family affairs from different viewpoints, and included over 66 varied workshops facilitated by 21 trainers and specialists.

The Family Development Department and its branches conducted over 22 family consultations, in addition to showcasing more than five publications such as 'Life Journey,' 'Marital Compatibility,' and the 'Marital Values Kit,' while also hosting various interactive workshops and discussions.

The Child Safety Department (CSD) engaged visitors by sharing effective strategies for addressing the challenges children encounter and raising awareness about bullying.

CSD received a strong response in the bullying room from parents and students, highlighting the importance of parents avoiding behaviors that could lead their children to become bullies or victims.

Furthermore, the Child Safety Department offered interactive first-aid workshops and other activities for both adults and children.

The Health Promotion Department (HPD) particularly engaged fair attendees, drawing in many with its interactive workshops on nutrition, emphasizing healthy eating and lifestyle habits to mitigate the risks of chronic and modern diseases within families.

The Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs reaffirmed its leading role in fostering culture and the habit of reading through 35 publications, including 'Pioneers of Emirati Theater,' a book that chronicles the creative contributions of Emirati female artists, especially in theatre, focusing on four notable actresses: Razika Al Taresh, Moza Al Mazrouei, Sameera Ahmed, and Maryam Sultan.

Asmaa Hassouni, Director of the Media Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, emphasized that the Council's departments' involvement reflects their dedication to providing valuable resources for Emirati families, bolstering the family integration system with respect to marriage education, family unity, and guidance on maintaining health and preventing hereditary diseases.

She also pointed out that this involvement raises comprehensive awareness of child safety and the challenges children face, including bullying and accidents.

Hassouni highlighted the significant role of partners and sponsors in the Council's participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair, stating that the participation demonstrated the collaborative efforts of all departments in support of family and community.

She commended the support from the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) and the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators in delivering educational and interactive workshops, with SLC also providing motivational prizes.

Additionally, she praised Air Arabia’s backing for SCFA’s reading promotion competition that encouraged visitors to purchase books, inspired by this year’s theme, 'From a Reading Child to a Creative World.'

This year's platform experienced a notable increase in participant and visitor numbers compared to last year, thanks to a diverse array of activities that addressed the needs of all family members and attracted numerous creators and service providers eager to collaborate with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs to foster a safer and more stable society.
