30 global and 40 Iranian publishers join Tehran fellowship to boost international literary exchange and promote Persian literature through translation programs.

Application to register with publishers for attending the event has also drawn a multidimensional category of applicants from whom 30 were selected following preset criteria arranged by a judging committee, according to IRNA's report yesterday.

These publishers are from nations such as Albania, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, the report stated.

Moreover, 64 Iranian publishers signed up for the fellowship, with 40 slated to be chosen on set criteria and the judging panel's decisions.

The fellowship will strengthen Iran's representation in international publishing, initially targeting children's and young adult books.

The term 'publishing fellowship' indicates the cooperation between publishers, authors, and literary agents for selling book rights. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance facilitates activities in this field through programs such as the Grant and TOP programs.

The Grant Program seeks to develop the Iranian publishing industry and increase the share of Iranian books on international markets.

TOP or Translation of Persia is an initiative that encourages the translation of Persian literature into other languages.

The 36th Tehran International Book Fair will be hosted at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla from May 7 to May 17, with the slogan "Let's Read for Iran".
