CBSE Curriculum Update for 2024-25: Changes in Textbooks for Classes 3 and 6; Continuing Current Curriculum for Classes 9-12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared that changes in textbooks will only affect Classes 3 and 6 in the upcoming academic year 2024-25, with other classes retaining the previous year's curriculum. Emphasizing continuity, CBSE underscores the importance of adhering to established academic content, exam syllabi, learning objectives, teaching methods, and assessment criteria for Classes 9 through 12. Schools are encouraged to use approaches like multilingualism, art-based education, experiential learning, and comprehensive pedagogical strategies where feasible.

For the academic year which started on April 1, 2024, CBSE confirms that there will be no further curriculum or textbook updates for other classes. The Board has made the 2024-25 curriculum accessible on its website for all students and educators. Notably, CBSE urges schools to align their activities with the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 (NCF-SE-2023), including content requirements, teaching methodologies, assessment practices, and other relevant aspects.

In parallel, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has informed CBSE about ongoing developments in curricula and textbooks for Classes 3 and 6, which will soon be available. NCERT is also preparing a bridging course for Class 6 and concise guidelines for Class 3 to facilitate a seamless transition to new educational methodologies and subject matter aligned with NCF-SE-2023. These resources will be accessible online to schools upon completion.

CBSE plans to conduct capacity-building workshops to familiarize school administrators and teachers with the updated teaching-learning philosophies outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020).
