Over 300 Publishers at Madinah Book Fair Highlight Cultural and Technological Innovations

The third Madinah Book Fair is attracting significant crowds eager to explore a diverse array of Arab and international publications, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. Organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the event features more than 300 publishing houses spread across 200 pavilions.

Attendees can participate in a variety of activities including seminars, poetry readings, discussion panels, workshops, and special sessions for children focusing on education and skill development. The fair incorporates modern technology, allowing visitors to navigate the event using QR codes on their smartphones.

Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the commission, highlighted the fair's role in celebrating Madinah’s cultural heritage and boosting the Kingdom's stature in the global publishing scene. The event also aims to nurture a reading culture and spotlight Saudi writers while drawing international authors and publishers.

A special feature, the Year of the Camel initiative, offers insights into the historical and cultural importance of camels through an educational pavilion organized by the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs is showcasing its digital applications, including a virtual experience of Hajj and Umrah using 3D technology. The Rushd app provides a range of services including an electronic Qur’an, prayer times, and educational resources, while the Correct Citation app assists with accurate transcription of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith in multiple languages.

The fair is open daily until August 5 at the King Salman International Convention and Exhibition Center, from 2 p.m. to midnight.
