Smt R N Sangma, East Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, opened the Book Fair organized by Loyola College in association with the Eastern Eastern Publishing House on Tuesday. Dr. Fr. Philip Abraham SJ, Principal of the Williamnagar Government College, Rajib K. Marak, Principal of the Govt. College, Williamnagar, and the Principal of the host college were present for the inauguration.

The expo will draw participants from 18 Williamnagar schools and two other colleges. Over 30,000 books covering a wide range of subjects and disciplines are available at the book fair, including books on Humanities, Social Science and Science, Commerce, Children's Books, Encyclopaedias for Competitive Exams, Motivational Books, Novels, and a large selection of Stationery. A discount of 10% is being offered to all students and the general public.

Smt. R. N. Sangma, the Chief Guest, stated that nothing delivers in-depth information like literature. She went on to say that when book reading is declining in this digital age, it is critical to foster the habit of reading. She recalled an author who remarked that reading is what exercise is to the body.

Wanshanbok K. Marak, a Loyola College student, urged his peers to cultivate the habit of reading books since it fosters knowledge and intellectual growth and helps to experience the world through the eyes of others. He used the phrase "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader" to emphasize how reading can foster creativity and critical thinking in pupils.

The Eastern Publishing House, Guwahati, founded in 1994, is one of the main distributors in North East India, noted for its high-quality academic, professional, and general publishing.
