Frontlist | Press Club of India and Leaders For Tomorrow Foundation to conduct India’s largest ESSAY WRITING competition for school studentson Feb 15, 2021 New Delhi: Press Club of India and Leaders For Tomorrow Foundation, along with Voice Of Kids, have launched India’s largest Essay Writing competition for high school students on the theme of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The primary aim of this competition is to inculcate the habit of reading and writing among school children and youth. The competition aims to give high school students (from classes 8 to 12) an opportunity to voice their ideas and to help work on the social issues that they come across in their day-to-day lives. The winners will be selected on the basis of the understanding of the problem, selection of topic, feasibility of the idea suggested and writing skills. Students from across the country may register for the competition by 15th March 2021, with the last date for submissions being 31st March, 2021. The jury for the competition comprises senior journalists from the Press Club of India. The results will be announced on 15th May, 2021. Winners will be selected at the National, State and school levels. The top three winners will get Rs.20,000, Rs.15000, and Rs.10,000 respectively in addition to other prizes. These include: threefull scholarships for a German language course offered by Goethe-Institut, full scholarships for writing and reporting programmes offered by Development Channel, certificates, cash awards, trophies and medals. Schools with over fifty participants will receive special recognition for the best three entries from each of these schools. In addition to this, there will be a special prize: in this edition, we have the Korean Culture Centre as Principal Partner and we will be conducting an additional essay competition, for the top 100 contestants. The top two winners of this additional competition will get a fully sponsored weeklong victory trip to South Korea. The top hundred participants will also be provided the opportunity to get trained as student reporters, working on reporting about development issues, sponsored by the Development Channel. All winning essays at the national and state levels will be published in Voice Of Kids(VoK). Top three entries from schools with more than 50 participants, will also be published in Voice of Kids. Schools with more than 50 participants will get special privileges including consideration for student-exchange programmes, training for writing and reporting, complimentary membership in Voice of Kids clubs etc. The competition is jointly organized by Leaders For Tomorrow Foundation, a not-for-profit youth movement for social development, the Press Club of India, New Delhi, and the Voice of Kids, a platform for school children to voice their opinion on issues around them. The competition seeks entries based on the Sustainable Development issues that India is facing and solutions for the same.
