Goodwill gesture: Army distributes books & stationery items to BPL studentson Aug 05, 2021 Indian Army has been relentlessly working towards the upliftment of weaker sections of society through many goodwill gestures undertaken through Sadbhavana projects. In a similar such step, as part of the army provided books and stationery items to school children from Below Poverty Line families residing in Traranwali village of Poonch district. “The main objective of the initiative was to provide quality education to Below Poverty Line children of the region and to promote education among the poor people of the society, PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said. “It has been observed with concern that the children studying from poor families are forced to quit studies due to financial constraints for school fees and expenditure towards study material, he added. “To stop this trend, BPL students were provided with study material including books and stationery items, Col Anand said. The event was attended by a large number of students and brought cheer and joy to the children of the families, as well as a ray of hope for their brighter future. Col Anand said that the Indian Army has assured continued support and guidance to these families in the future as well. Source - Times of India
