G20 Education Conference Focuses on Lifelong Learning and Future Skills

On Wednesday, a seminar on "Building Capacities for Lifelong Learning in the Context of Future of Work" officially opened the third Education Working Group conference, which was held here under India's G20 Presidency.

It is a continuation of the two working group meetings previously conducted in Chennai and Amritsar to debate and put into practice cutting-edge concepts and regulations to completely revolutionize the world of education.

The three-day meeting is being conducted at the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) and attended by more than 60 delegates from G20 member nations, invitee countries, and international organizations.

Subhas Sarkar, the Union Minister of State for Education, spoke at the event and underlined the importance of skill education while listing the several skilling programs the government has put out to develop a workforce prepared for the future.

According to Sarkar, the discussion on the changing nature of the workplace and the significance of fundamental skills and lifetime learning was continued from the previous two webinars.

He said that through upskilling, re-skilling, and lifelong learning while maintaining inclusivity, it seeks to strengthen human and institutional capacity for the delivery of future skills for a workforce that is ready for the future.

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which serves as a guide, is helping the Indian government reconsider the strategies used to create, evaluate, and recognize talents, particularly through the combination of academic and vocational education, he continued.

Three-panel discussions were held at the seminar, and panelists from Brazil, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Russia, South Africa, Mauritius, the OECD, UNICEF, Australia, and the United Kingdom participated.

The G20 Future of Work Exhibition, also visited by delegates, featured cutting-edge tools and ground-breaking concepts that are revolutionizing how we learn and work. The expo includes active participation from business, academia, government, international, and startup groups and a future of work experience zone and sizable technological exhibits.

The three-day gathering also features a cultural spectacle with traditional Odissi performances and debates. The delegates will get the chance to become acquainted with the state's rich cultural assets and learn more about its customs and history.

The delegates will visit the Konark temple on the conference's final day. The temple is a well-liked tourist site representing the state's rich cultural history.
