Vikas Gupta, MD, Wiley India shares his views on Future of Publishing. The traditional model of Publishing is when the author writes, and the Publisher edits, designs, markets, prints and distributes the book. This model is, however, changing. In the current publishing model, the author writes, gets the work edited and designed from Freelancers, and prints and distributes the book via sites like Amazon and Flipkart. Where does the role of Publisher come in this model? The Publisher now plays the role of a Peer-review person. The Publisher would advise the author on how to write, present and market a book. And he can do so because of his years of experience in creating, publishing and promoting hundreds of books.
