Four Themes have been revealed for Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate

The Amrit Mahotsav Science Showcase also titled as Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate (February 22-28, 2022) will showcase our scientific legacy and technology excellence that have helped in finding solutions to problems in space, defence, agriculture, health, astronomy, and others. This event is organised jointly by DST, DBT, CSIR, MoES, DAE, DOS, ICMR, AICTE, and DRDO under the leadership of the office of the Principal Scientific Officer to the Government of India and the Ministry of Culture. Vigyan Prasar has been given the responsibility for coordinating the event.

Programs are being organized simultaneously at 75 locations all over the country. A mega expo and book fair are proposed to be held at the grounds of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium as part of this science week

Four themes have been identified for the week long celebration:

1. Annals of science:

On an individual or set individuals of founders of modern science, they are tracing how their contributions helped India establish a modern S&T system. On institutions of national importance that were established in India in the past 75 years and how they have contributed in building our nation.

2. Milestones of Modern S&T:

A key discovery, innovation or invention that made a mark in the global science on India’s development story.

3. Swadeshi Paramparik Inventions & Innovations:

An technology or invention that developed India and helped the goal of self reliance including modern innovations that focuses the reservoir of traditional knowledge system (say drugs from herbs).

4. Transforming India:

India is strongly embarking upon immense science and technology missions & projects; such as Gaganyan, Samudrayan and more such projects. The lecture can discuss on one or more S&T initiatives to capture the imagination of the young.

Background

The Ministry of Culture & the Office of the PSA, Govt of India, under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav have decided to celebrate the week of Feb 22 – 28, 2022 as the delightful week is dedicated to science & technology – VIGYAN SARVATRA PUJYATE (science is revered all over).
