The book was released during an event held at the University of Madras. It was written by P. Jyothimani, a former judge on the Madras High Court, and G. Balan, a former history lecturer at Pachiayappa's College. The first copy was given to Justice R. Mahadevan, a judge on the Madras High Court.

Judge V. Ramasubramanian claimed that financial and commercial values have historically prevailed over political matters after the book's publication. He emphasised that the book contains topics like Mahatma Gandhi's current relevance and urged the younger generation to read it to improve and simplify people's lives.

Speaking on Gandhi's struggles for social and economic justice, equality among the sexes, eradicating poverty and illiteracy, and finally achieving independence via ahimsa and non-violence, Judge R. Mahadevan discussed the challenges the Indian independence movement faced.

The guest of honour for the occasion was G. Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT. He emphasised the need to reach out to society's poorest sections and eradicate their ignorance. Judges from the High Court of Madras, Justice Anita Sumanth and Justice Jagadeesan, congratulated and appreciated the writers' efforts.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Madras S. Gowri stated in his presidential speech that he was considering suggesting the book as a reference work for history and other social sciences students.
