New Delhi, September 25, 2024 — The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) successfully conducted its 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at The Claridges, New Delhi. The event was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr K. Sreenivasarao, Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, a distinguished figure in the Indian literary landscape known for his significant contributions to the publishing industry.

The AGM provided a comprehensive platform for discussing the myriad opportunities and challenges currently facing the publishing sector. Key members and senior office bearers of the Federation engaged in fruitful discussions, generating valuable insights and solutions to fortify the industry. The consensus emerged that the FIP would persist in representing the interests of publishers at the state level to ensure a cohesive approach to industry challenges.

In addition to addressing pressing issues, the AGM also marked the crucial moment of the elections for the 2024-2025 term. Mr. Saurabh Agrawal, Company Secretary, served as the Election Officer, overseeing the election process with exceptional dedication and professionalism. His commitment to transparency and integrity during the elections was commendable, ensuring that the process ran smoothly and upheld the highest standards of fairness. The Federation acknowledges Mr Aggarwal’s substantial contributions and the invaluable experience he brought to the role.

Following the election process, a new executive team was unanimously elected for the 2024-2025 term, reflecting the confidence and support of the Federation's members. The newly appointed officials are:

  • Shri Pranav Gupta, HONORARY GENERAL SECRETARY
  • Ms. Pushpita Ghosh, HONORARY JOINT SECRETARY
  • Dr. Ashok Gupta, HONORARY TREASURER

The newly constituted FIP Executive Committee consists of the following members:

Various initiatives were discussed at the AGM, including the enhancement of digital publishing platforms, the promotion of local authors and works, and strategies to better engage with international markets. The team underscored the importance of adapting to the rapidly evolving landscape of the publishing industry, particularly in light of technological advancements and changing consumer behaviours.

Dr. K. Sreenivasarao, in his address, applauded the Federation for its ongoing efforts to support the literary community and emphasised the critical role publishers play in shaping cultural narratives and knowledge dissemination. He reiterated the need for collaborative efforts between publishers, authors, and educational institutions to foster a vibrant literary ecosystem in India.
