Edu Minister releases book translated by SMVDU faculty

The Hindi edition of the book titled ‘My Green School’ i.e. Mera Vidyanandalay, translated by Dr Rajsri and Dr Saurabh of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), was released by Dharmendra Pradhan, Education Minister of India.
The book is based on the work of T S Powdyel, former Education Minister of Bhutan in which Bhutan’s experience and the role of educational institutions in achieving the Gross National Happiness is discussed. Dharmendra Pradhan, in his address, said that school education is the right unit to inculcate the concept of happiness and create the contended and happy human beings.

Pradhan said that in view of reviving the education system, this book should be taken up in all the schools and discussed thoroughly across the academic sections in India. He complimented Powdyel and translators as well as Prof RK Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVD University and Dr Prabhat Pankaj, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur and Shreevats Jaipuria (Chairman Jaipuria institutions) for providing support.
Dr Powdyel said that this book in Hindi is a new beginning for expanding the concept of happiness i.e. eight kinds of greenery in the life of the school for making a happy nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Saurabh said that the book shall provide the basis for the thinking and action for the educators, implementers and policymakers in designing the seat of learning that shall focus on developing citizens who are internally happy and productive.
Prof Ravindra Kumar Sinha (VC SMVDU) conveyed his best wishes to the translators. Dr Prabhat Pankaj provided an excerpt of his learning of the concept of gross national happiness in Bhutan. The book has been published by Bloomsbury Publications.
