Doha International Book Fair Celebrates Knowledge and Culture

The Doha International Book Fair recently celebrated the inauguration ceremony of its 33rd edition, themed "Knowledge Builds Civilizations". The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the President of the 42nd session of the General Conference and ministers of culture from several countries, including Oman, UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Yemen. The event was inaugurated by Qatar's Prime Minister, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
This year's fair witnessed its largest international participation to date, featuring over 515 publishing houses from 42 countries, with Oman serving as the guest of honor. The Omani pavilion showcased its rich literary and cultural heritage through literature, artistic performances, and traditional art forms.
The fair also highlighted regional contributions, with participation from the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature of Kuwait, the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of Oman, and various Saudi institutions, including the Taibah University and the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center. Additionally, libraries from the historic Souq El Azbakeya in Egypt contributed to the event, along with international publishers from countries such as China, Azerbaijan, Mauritania, Jordan, Turkiye, the USA, and the UK.
The President also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of the UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, commending Dr. Salah Khaled and his team for their significant contributions.
