Following the CM Flying Squad's 25 searches throughout Haryana, 12 charges of fraudulent NCERT books have been lodged. Surveillance was conducted in Gurugram, Hisar, Faridabad, Karnal, Rohtak, Rewari, Panchkula, and Ambala.
It was discovered that bookstores made 50-60% profit by selling counterfeit books. Because NCERT books were in low supply, the fake book trade thrived, as inexpensive paper and ink were employed.
According to sources, these books were acquired and sold without invoices, causing the state to lose the GST. It was also revealed that some schools compelled parents to purchase extra books or diaries alongside the NCERT texts, which were costly and placed financial pressure on parents.
