Book fair gets under way in city

A two-day book fair kicked off in the city on Monday, with the initial event held at Shillong College's auditorium.

The inaugural programme, organized by Shillong College's Central Library and IQAC in collaboration with Shillong Commerce College and College of Teacher Education (PGT) Shillong, was attended by all major booksellers and publishers from Meghalaya, as well as schoolchildren and faculty members from the aforementioned colleges.

Shillong College Principal Dr E Kharkongor, Shillong Commerce College Principal Dr S Sen, and IQAC Coordinator College of Teacher Education (PGT) Shillong Dr B Tron attended the occasion.

While Dr Sen spoke on the importance of reading books in her address, Dr Tron focused on the benefits of reading books.

Dr. Kharkongor, on the other hand, urged the student body to read.
