The Department of Art & Culture of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and the National Book Trust (NBT) will arrange a grand ten-day long Book Fair at the ITF Ground, Sri Vijaya Puram, between April 1 to 10, 2025. The fair will help instill a reading culture and love for literature among the students and book readers on the Islands.
The Book Fair will remain open every day from 11 AM to 9 PM and will have 40 stalls representing books from some of the mainland India's top publishers. The event will provide a wide range of genres and give readers a chance to visit and buy books directly from the stalls. The event will also include some of the mainland's top authors, who will interact with visitors through book signings, interactive sessions, and discussions.
To enhance the celebratory mood, there will be evening cultural programs adding to the ambience for participants. The Book Fair will engage literature lovers, academics, students, and members of the public with an intellectual forum for literature experience.
Preparatory visits were made by Mr. Mayank Surolia, Deputy Director, National Book Trust, to the venue on March 4, 2025. He inspected the spot and discussed with the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration as well as other senior officials, the successful conduct of the fair.
The National Book Trust, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, was set up in 1957 with the mission of encouraging reading habits and a literate society throughthe publication and dissemination of good books.
Book Fairs are pivotal in fostering a culture of reading, making access to diverse literary works possible, and opening a platform for the interaction of writers and readers. The organizers have invited one and all to become a part of this literary celebration, discover an extensive collection of books, and rejoice in reading.
