17th Karachi International Book Fair Gathered Over 150,000 Visitors During Its 4-Day Expedition

On the fourth day of the current 17th Karachi International Book Fair, a sizable number of students, teachers, benefactors, politicians, and educationists visited the Karachi Expo Centre to buy books (KIBF).

The yearly celebration will end today (Monday). Veteran politician Farooq Sattar was among those who visited the KIBF and claimed that it was one of the things that had come to represent Karachi.

Such book fairs have to be organized three or four times a year, according to Farazur Rahman, president of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). He bemoaned the fact that the value of the Pakistani rupee had fallen concerning the US dollar, which had caused a rise in the cost of pages and, eventually, a rise in the cost of books. He promised to bring up the subject of rising book prices at every forum.

He claimed that the KIBF disproved the notion that the digital age had put an end to the age of reading books. The main factor in maintaining our ideals and civilization, he said, was literature.

The KATI president responded to a query by saying that publishers served as a link between authors and readers. The business community of publishers was assisting in the dissemination of information in this way.

"A nation that turns away from books is destroyed. I'm astonished that individuals of all ages, including children, the elderly, ladies, and others, are interested in literature after visiting here "He commented. The department is reactivating existing libraries in government schools, according to Sindh School Education Secretary Ghulam Akbar Laghari, who was at the international book expo.

This would provide children the chance to study books in addition to participating in co-curricular activities. He said that he frequented the KIBF and that unusual literature might be found there. Since 2005, the KIBF has been hosted in the city.
