12-Year-Old Student Opens 12th Library with 400 Telugu Books at AIDS Orphanage

Akarshana Sathish, a class 8 student from Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, has established her 12th library, housing 400 Telugu books, at an AIDS orphanage in Pocharam village.
Her journey began in 2021 when she visited MNJ Cancer Children Hospital in Hyderabad with her parents to distribute food. During this visit, she noticed the young patients' desire for colorful books, which sparked her mission to collect books for those in need.
Akarshana began gathering used books from her neighbors, classmates, and relatives, amassing over 7,000 books. With this collection, she set up six libraries, each catering to different communities. Her libraries feature a diverse range of books, including those in Hindi, English, Telugu, as well as fiction, non-fiction, and general knowledge.
